I kind of wanted to avoid reading this article for the simple of reason of the title “Video shows white teens driving over, killing black man, says DA” brings to light that racism still lives. Not that I don’t believe that out and out racism lives but the fact that a James Craig Anderson lost his life because of his skin color. What is most frightening is the fact that it was a group of teens and the one who drove the truck was 18 years old. The question that sticks out in my mind most is where did he learn such hatred? Home, school, friends, internet how does it spread and fuel such hatred were it means nothing to take the life of another. The fact that I let my girls know that not everyone will like you for different reasons including skin color, hair texture, looks, they way you speak, cloths or simple that you have made a bad first impression. I think I try to drill this into them because in the far recesses’ of my mind I do believe that we have not come that far from the 60’s and the civil rights movement.
