Lady Beyonce

Critically Acclaimed, Diva, Pop Icon, Entertainer, Trendsetter, Actor, Dancer, and Singer: Beyoncé seems to be blowing up the musical airwaves. Maybe not in the familiar way she is accustomed to over the years. However critics are questioning her education/intelligence nevertheless oh me oh me oh my!!!

“First off by Beyonce mispronunciation algebra goes to show me not only does she NOT know algebra as she admits but she also can not read or spell... is the point of claiming not to know algebra by mispronunciation algebra“ by Anonymous 6:46 pm - Jul 28, '11 (http://theybf.com)

Personally I am a die-hard Rhianna fan, though I believe in giving credit where credit is due! “No person is perfect”, and Beyonce no longer has Daddy Knowles to “have completed a pre written script”. She is the making all her decisions solo and personally showing woman are no longer to be “just seen” but HEARD! Now, who run the world? GIRLS!

Bishop Eddie Long's Fifth Accuser

Centino Kemp| A Real Life Ken Doll |Wild child Kemp| AKA the
“Fifth Accuser in the Bishop Eddie Long $ex Scandal"

News broke out this week that the young man was the “puzzle that did not quite fit” in the scandal. Details are still being developed how he is associated with the Bishop. Here is a brief autobiography, description, profile or what has been stated of Kemp:

"He is best known for being Promiscuous in his appearance in several minor film roles and lead roles in drama plays in the Bahamas he is one of the most determined, original, genuine and talented male teenager in the Bahamas. He has that pop sound, with soulful and related, down to earth lyrics. He has the love for R&B/pop and hip-hop and Soca music.

This young man is only 19 but that age doesn't limit him to anything he wants that'll make him succeed. This vibrant teen has been at it for a while. He found his love for music when he was apart of his local church choir, No matter what he does whether its photography, or fashion, drama, or modeling his music is never far behind. He writes all of his songs. A little bit of poetry is thrown into his lyrics as well. Not only that he sings and write his music, recite his own poetry and dance.”

Blacks in Latin America

Just coming off of my amazing vacation to Mexico where the people seem to come in all hues of browns. This is the reason why the short article entitled “Gates explores black culture in Latin America”. Henry Louis Gates Jr. produced a four part PBS documentary only with a book with the same title. It would be interesting to see what has actually survived of the African culture around the Caribbean. As I sat watching a performance of Mexican culture the music and dancing had similar tone and look to it that would be found in Haiti or other Caribbean culture. He looks at the multicultural of Brazil, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Mexico and Peru by looking at the religion, foods, art, music, dance and politics of these countries and the presence of African culture. An interesting topic that will start lots of conversation while educating on the background of great country’s for vacation.

Coba a Mayan Site

There are amazing sites in this world just wonders of the strength of people. The Ruins of Coba in Mexico is one of those wonders left behind by the Maya civilization a city of the Pre-Columbian Maya civilization. That has quite a few large structures that are covered within the jungle. It’s an amazing site that has not quite been touched by the outside world. Looking like what it might have been when the Mayans ruled the area.

Walking through the lush jungle it is very calming to look at the trees and few butterflies’s flying by. Trust lots of bugs still inhabit Coba along with the ruins and a very impressive Mayan ball court. It’s as if you have stepped back in time Coba is a ruin that has not been full restored so you get to see how it may have been during the Mayan civilizations prominent time. Once you have made your way to the pyramid amongst the trees its amazing to see how high it truly stands.

I am still amazed that this was created by an ancient civilization. I was just awed by the structure it self before and after I climbed the tallest one in Coba it self. There are a few smaller structures still covered by the jungle. Once you have decide to make that climb up there is nothing to do but climb. The stone like structures are not like stairs, not even so you have to make sure that your footing is secure while climbing. Everyone once in a while I had to pull myself up using my hands. It is quite a work out but the view once you have arrived up is amazing!

Looking down from about 138 feet that you climbed up is simply beautiful. One of the most amazing things I have done in my life as I looked down at the tops of the trees and up at the blue sky. I climbed up with no hesitation and no fears I can do anything that I want with out fear. The Mayans have taught me with their beautiful amazing structure to be fearless!

“All I can ever be to you is a darkness that we knew. And this regret I've got accustomed to once it was so right. When we were at our high. Waiting for you in the hotel at night I knew I hadn't met my match. But every moment we could snatch I don't know why I got so attached it's my responsibility. And you don't owe nothing to me But to walk away I have no capacity.”

Career Development | Interviewing Tips

Career Development | Interviewing Tips

Whether you’re looking for a full time job, or seasonal/temporary position or not we should all have professionalism. Below are some pointers that I think we all relate to.

Over the phone/ Face-to-Face:

Interviewer: “What negative thing would your last boss say about you?”

Underlying Question: “What are your professional weaknesses?”

Verbal Communication Ideas:

What you say and how you state it is a direct reflection of your education and general aptitude

Leave an intellectual imprint on your interviewer thru your words.

Example of some power words: Enumerate, Tutelage, Acumen and so on!

Nonverbal Messages:

93% of whether or not communication is effective is determined by nonverbal signals.

Example: Handshake, posture, eye contact, your hands and mannerisms.

Poetry For The Week

"My Drug"

Never experimented with paraphernalia
However you have become my "Mary Jane"
When our lips touch, its ecstasy
Similar to a fen I need my next dose
Seeing you does not amount to the sensation
When our bodies are bare next to one another
No other feeling stimulates me like
feeling the groves in your spine,
dimples in you back
and the smoothness of you bare ass
Feels so right its surreal to me
This can't be love it's greater
Can't be your charisma
Its deeper then your presences
You have become my addiction
Not just love but my drug

Tip of The Week

I consider myself to be a great supporter of locally own & operated businesses. The best form of advertisement is word of mouth and referrals. Tell a friend and they are bound to tell a friend and so on. With the state of the economy we all are "trimming the fat" on certain luxuries. For those of us on a budget but still want to enjoy being pampered here is some food for thought:

Find out where your local schools offer student services in one of the areas listed below. Please keep in mind services are rendered by STUDENTS. For nearly ½ the price for normal services why not become a guinea pig for a day?

Cosmetic/Esthetician: Academy of Nails & Esthetics (www.aofne.com)
Dentist: New York University | College of Dentistry (http://www.nyu.edu/dental/patientinfo/index.html)
Beauty: Heritage Education (http://www.heritage-education.com/spaclinic.htm?currentCampus=home¤tProgram=home)
Massage: Central Florida School | Massage Therapy (http://www.massagetherapy.cc/massage-student-information.php)
Culinary: Johnson & Wales University (http://www.jwu.edu/charlotte/#fbid=B8S01pIctJO)

Visit their sites for additional details, and support your local businesses!

Vegas Baby

Vegas Baby I am off to Vegas very soon. This is a trip I have been dreaming about for ever. I love Elvis and want to see Elvis impersonators, Vegas show girls, the Bellagio fountains and the Stratosphere Towers. I am enjoying life really living it not just walking through it and letting it live me. I have been having an excellent time actually going out and having new experiences. Trying to continue to smile and not sweat the small things. I do need to put more efforts in other parts of my life to increase my income. It’s hard out there but I can no longer sit back thinking its going to come to me it will not I have to put the work in. I decide to make changes in my life late last year and I have stuck to it no longer running from life. I plan on enjoying my two up coming vacations and new experience. It is summer go out all and have a new experiences. I have even added some color to my basic, black wardrobe.

Dating Myself

I have been dating myself for the past week and this weekend was like icing on the cake. Just perfect and you know what I enjoy my own company. I like that I can just go out and enjoy the mall, catch a movie and then have dinner, drinks while sitting at the bar. I thought it would be hard or a bit awkward. It was not amazingly you make quick friends at a bar. People seem to be in better mood with food, drinks and Karaoke. Those of you waiting on other’s to go out and have a good time or to start living? Do not wait on others to have a good time just get up and do it. You will find it easy, enjoyable and you may leave out with a new friend.

Me Time

I feel like and empty Nester at this time with the kids on vacation. What do empty Nester's do once the children leave home? Especially when we have made the children priority in are lives. Are days started with making sure they are fine and ready for the day it then ended with all task completed before putting them to bed to start all over again. Sneaking in bits of time here and there for are selves. Letting hobby’s, friends, and at time funds slip away from us. It happens so quickly that sometime we miss some of the pieces of are selves that we have lost.

I am claiming bits and pieces of myself slowly. Making myself and needs a priority enjoying my life. OK so I say that know while they are enjoying a great vacation being spoiled rotten by the grandparents. I refuse to loose all of me again to the children I can’t live like that. I need to continue to just enjoy myself and the little things that I enjoy. I have started the reconnection process with old friends by simply reaching out with a card. Bring order to my life by cleaning out things that I have not used in 6 months if I haven’t used it in that long then I do not need it. Taking myself out on a date, picking out what I want to eat and just enjoy my own company. Honestly I may not be ready to be an empty Nester but I am enjoying spending my time the way I want without noise. I plan on taking at least one day a month just for me, keeping in touch with friends and just enjoying me time without the kids. They will be just fine with a little separation time!

Curbing the Brats

Love LZ Granderson he never disappoints with is opinion pieces. So I knew that I was going to enjoy his latest Permissive parents: Curb your brats where he discusses the lack of discipline some children have. More like the lack of discipline that parents dole out onto their children. A good spanking at times or that look that says I am not playing with you. Me it is the look along with my tone of addressing the behavior. Yes, I love my children but I also can’t handle the whining, so called tantrums and will not stand for rude behavior. With that said I do not want to deal with other people’s children behaving in that manner either. I have learned to deal with behavior issues at the time it happens. You will not run around as if you have no home training because you are representing me and our family when we are in public.

Yes I am a parent but if I refuse to deal with my children acting up in public I sure enough do not want to deal with other peoples. “You wanted them, deal wit them.”1 (Granderson, LZ) Dealing with them means more then giving into to there every wish it means actually disciplining them, talking with them, getting to know them and at times spanking them when needed. Yes being a parent is hard and being a productive adult in society even harder which is what we are raising are children to be. Let’s not short change them by allowing them to believe that the sun and moon rotates around them because they will be sadly mistaken. I love my children but just because I do it does not mean the world will and I tell my oldest this. She knows not everyone will like her for what ever reason and Middle School has proven this. I refuse to have them deal with a false sense of comfort life is not easy so a nice dose of discipline is needed in raising children.

Richer Tone I am Black

I have been listening to Michael Baisden for the past two weeks discussing how there are quite a few Black women not happy with the way they look. OK understandable there are things that we all would like to change about are selves. I would love to add three inches to my frame and increase my breast by a cup. Not what he has been discussing but skin color, women of a richer tone, our unhappy, feel discriminated against and unloved because of darker pigmentation. I am a richer tone sister and it has not been a problem for me. I have always been around Black people that looked like me, educated me in school, went to church with me, hung around my home and were my friends. Its just has always been apart of me.

I mean yes different there are shades of Black/Brown but does it matter? When you fill out paperwork or a job application it list Black not Brown, Light Brown, High Yellow, Red Bone, Pecan, Carmel or any other color you would like to see yourself as. Non Blacks see you as just that Black. Maybe I am a bit naive but that is how I see myself as a Black woman OK I wish I was a bit taller but that is not happening and neither is my skin tone changing. I love me I love what I see when I look in the mirror and after watching one of the videos on www.officialdarkgirlsmovie.org it sadden me to believe that people can go there whole lives not loving themselves for color of their skin. Yes it has taken me a few years and maturity has left me in love with me and what I see.

Parents we have to do a better job of letting are children know how beautiful that they are. Regardless of how dark or light the color of there skin. Push them to educate their minds, respect their body’s and love themselves. I know it is easier said then done to be comfortable in your own skin but it is the only one we have. Life is short so we should enjoy all that it has to offer and you can’t do that if you are too busy worrying about the color of your skin. You can’t change it so why not just take pride in it, yourself and step out in confidence. Confidence is very sexy!!! As parents, siblings, aunts, uncles and friends lets just show each other love it helps to build a bit of confidence. We still need to love are selves first and foremost.
