Resolution's?

2012 a New Year lets not make resolutions! Resolution means the determination, course of action, mental state or quality of being resolute. Which usually fall to the waste side by the end of January which usually leaves us disappointed for months to come because we could not stand firm on the resolution to do the list of things that we started the year? Let’s just make a bucket list of about 5 to 10 things that we always wanted to do in life. The top on my list is to travel, try something new at least once during each month, tap more into my spiritual side, take more time out for family and friends and try to maintain a health life style.

Death is promised to all of us when it comes knocking is what we can not predict. 2012 for me is the year of keeping a positive mind set. Be happy and continue to AIM for the best in all that we do in life, judge no one, be daring and enjoy the little things in life. Kick all those old resolutions to the curb and jump at the chance to do something that you have been putting off for a long time. Happy New Year and the best in life in 2012.

Tell the devil I said Hey when you get back to where you’re from | Mad woman, bad woman | That’s just what you are..

Bruno Mars | “Grenade” | Doo-Wops & Hooligans (October, 2010)

The underdog was America’s sweetheart when he exploded on the scene as a feature on the following songs: “Nothin’ On You” with B.O.B and “Billionaire” with Travie McCoy in 2010. The Bruno Mars has been buzzing on the music scene writing for other artists such as:

Get Sexy” – Sugababes | Sweet 7 (August | 2009)

He co-written: “Lift Off”- Jay-Z, and Kanye West featuring Beyonce | Watch The throne (August |2011), and currently “It Will Rain” is making a big splash on the Breaking Dawn Soundtrack. His sophomore album has an estimated release date for early next year. In the mean time catch him on the following singles:

The State of Hip Hop

“…when you mention me, know my girls are really gorgeous I be all up in her cut, like some Neosporin Tity two chains, I got my name on my upholstery | Married to the streets, aint no way you can divorce it | Got the ceiling crack, so I'm shining like an ocean..”
2 Chainz | “Oh My (REMIX)” – DJ Drama featuring Trey Songz, and Big Sean
Within the past few weeks or so I have been hearing several songs that featured: “Atlanta’s, Aspiring Artist: Tity Boy/2 Chainz” on tracks like:
I Keep It Gee”- Big Sean featuring 2 Chainz
Boo Thang (REMIX)” – Verse Simmonds featuring Yo Gotti, and 2 Chainz
Yao Ming” – David Banner featuring 2 Chainz
SupaFreak” – Young Jeezy featuring 2 Chainz
Do What I Want” – Lil Twist featuring 2 Chainz
Drop It” - Bobby V featuring Meek Mill, and 2 Chainz
Perfect Symmetry” - B.o.B. featuring 2 Chainz
Getting’ Em” – Sammie featuring 2 Chainz
Whip” – French Montana featuring 2 Chainz
However, the gentlemen’s versus/freestyles are not alluring let alone flattering. However, lately rap has become a gimmick with artists like: Soulja Boy, Kreyshawn, Tony Yayo and others who are dissipating a genre that legends: Tupac and Biggie would grimace over if they were alive. Not to mention crossover artist: “Beiber Swag”, Chris Brown, Trey Songz, Ne-Yo among others to put their spin on hip-hop.  Giving 2 Chainz the benefit of the doubt-- I decided to research the dude.
Tauheed Epps original stage name was: "Tity Boi" after signing to Disturbing Tha Peace/Def Jam he strictly went by: "2 Chainz." He was a former member of a duo: “The Duffle Bag Boyz/Playaz Circle”, which had the one time hit single: “Duffle Bag Boy” that featured Lil Wayne back in 2007.  Since then the rapper has been in high demand. He has released: 7 Mix Tapes that include: “Itz Goin Digital“, “Codeine Cowboy”, “Rilluminati”, and “T.R.U. Realigion (with DJ Drama and Gansta Grillz)” just to name a few. Hot 97’s Miss. Info claims 2 Chainz is the: “..hottest product coming out of Atlanta.”

My ears are peeled to the streets to see where 2 Chainz will land in 2012 with: “Watch The Throne (the sequel)” - Jay-Z and Kanye West, “God Forgives, I Don’t” – Rick Ross, “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded”- Nicki Minaj, “Live From The Underground” - Big K.I.R.T, and G.O.O.D Music-- just to name a few of the slew of artist that will saturate airways next year.

Happy Holiday

It seemed to roll so quickly into my life. I barely enjoyed Ole Hollow’s Eve, when the Turkey train came barreling down on me and know I seem to be standing on the door step of Christmas Eve. At this point my stress level is so high could I have forgotten a gift, left be hind the wind for the Sangria, did a miss a spot while I cleaned as I sit here on the Eve of Christmas. At this point I slow breath if I did not purchase it then it really was not need. If I purchase a gift after the holidays the receipt will be just fine. Christmas for me is about family, laughs, hugs, Mid Night mass and just making memory’s while handing out love. Life moves so fast and we just never know if it will be cut short so just enjoyed the time with family and friends. Share a smile with a stranger; help a child or an elderly person. Open up your home to friends who have no holiday plan and might just need you to show them a bit of love. Happy Holiday to all and to all a beautiful few days!!!

Welcome Winter: Album Review

What better stocking suffer than a CD? Fits effortlessly in any stocking(s) so be sure to get: Amy Winehouse, T-pain, and Yelawolf because they surely aim to please!

T-Pain | reVOLVER (12/06/2011)

Teddy (Bend Your…) Pain, is just mind blowing. The “Auto-Tune King” has definitely evolved and you can confirm this thru his versatility, and from his ballets. Just about everyone and yes there mama collaborated with T-Pain like: Lily Allen, Lil Wayne, Ne-Yo, Chris Brown among others. On “Drowning Again”, you can definitely picture him singing “The Star Spangle Banner” at a future Super Bowl because you can tell the strength in his vocal pipes you can’t deny it—the boy can sing! Best-Bet Picks: “5 O’ Clock”, “Bang Band Pow Pow”, “Drowning Again”, “Look At Her Go”, and “Turn All The Lights On”.

Amy Winehouse | Lioness: Hidden Treasures (12/02/2011)

I have to be honest—I kept looking for the “wow factor” on this album and I didn’t quite get it. I think the features on the album and the versatility was to fill the void (which it didn’t). Don’t get me wrong there were a few tracks that where heartfelt merely because we lost an extraordinary talent too soon. Tracks like “Tears Dry”, brings the audience back to the jazzier side that we will never have the opportunity to witness. Best-Bet Picks: “Our Day Will Come”, “Valerie”, and “Tears Dry”.

Yelawolf | Radioactive (11/21/2011)

Folks are calling him the new “Slim Shady”, I’d agree he is no Limp Bizket or Vanilla Ice! Phenomenal world play, and great narrating as he rap’s his stories. “…happy birthday Alabama (drinks on me, for me, not you)..”, you can now be proud of something more than just the Civil War? Executively directed by Eminem, however, there were still a handful of collaborations with other elites such as: Gansta Boo, Lil Jon, Kid Rock and more. Best-Bet Picks: “Made in the U.S.A.”, “Let’s Roll”, “Growin’ Up In The Gutter”, “Hard White (Up In The club)”, and “Animal”.

December Solstice

The solstice in December also know as the winter solstice in the northern hemisphere. Takes place during the coldest season of the year which leads to lighter days after the winter solstice. With this knowledge people set out to celebrate with festivity’s. The belief that the solstice was the rebirth of the Sun God with the coming of more lights with Christianity the celebration of the birth of Jesus during Christmas. The date of the 25th of December is to offset the pagan celebrations of Saturnalia and Natalis Invicti. It is amazing lots of traditions are intertwined with some bit of pagan celebrations. Take the time to just enjoy the day of Winter Solstice because I am sure happy for the coming of more light outside.

A Southerner's Delight!

Reigning from Gadsden, Alabama he is making the state famous for more than the Civil War, and hunting bucks among many things. With Radioactive (his 2nd Album) now in stores Michael Wayne Atha can officially state he has completed his “road to riches”.  However; the part Cherokee rapper, and former skater is more of a veteran in the business than you might imagine. He has worked with the following artist:

I run” – Slim Thug featuring Yelawolf
You Aint No DJ”- Big Boi featuring Yelawolf
Mixin’ Up The Medicine”- Juel Santana featuring Yelawolf
Let’s Go” – Travis Barker, Twista, Busta Rhymes, and Yelawolf
Hometown Hero (REMIX)”, and “Happy Birthday Hip-Hop”- Big K.R.I.T featuring Yelawolf
Push It”- Jessie and The Toy Boys featuring Yelawolf
It’s A Party”- B.o.B featuring Yelawolf
Rough Game”- Game featuring Yelawolf
Worldwide Choppers” – Tech N9ne featuring Yelawolf
Oh Yeah” – Mr. Finley featuring Yelawolf

Though “his limbs are covered in tattoos”, the boy represents “the people who are the core of America”. In an interview with Vibe he stated: "I sympathize with any working-class man or woman with a family to support, anybody whose job is in jeopardy because of someone's mistakes or greed in a hierarchy. That's always a very fucked-up place to be. My grandfather worked at Goodyear for twenty-something years and they called him, told him he was gonna get laid off or he could leave his family and go to another state to work. He had to go get an apartment, leave his wife, leave everything he'd ever known. A lot of people didn't even have that option."

Hidden Gems: Album Review

While breezing thru my play list while I traveled during Thanksgiving I forgot about these few artist that laced us with their studio albums. Florence + The Machine, Kelly Clarkson, and Big Sean did not disappoint their fans and deserve recognition for their latest masterpieces!

Florence + The Machine |  Ceremonials (11/28/2011)

I managed to purchase this album during Black Friday for a Stella price. I have been following this particular group since 2009 but only recently started to take them seriously after being sucked into hearing: “Heavy in Your Arms” (The Soundtrack The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) constantly on the radio. Florence Welch’s voice is so powerful its tranquilizing and turns the song into a portrait almost instantly. “It’s a shot in the dark and right at my throat | Looking for heaven, for the devil in me” (“Shake It Out”). Talk about a chilling horror flick, eh? At times it’s hard to imagine the lyrics and vocals are coming from a singer not even 30 years old?  Best-Bet Picks: “What The Water Gave Me”, “Shake It Out”, “Leave My Body” and “No Light, No Light”.

Kelly Clarkson | Stronger (10/21/2011)

Doesn’t mean I’m lonely when I’m alone | What doesn’t kill you makes a fighter” (“What Doesn’t Kill You”). The vocals and maturity on Kelly’s fifth studio album is one of her best thus far (to fans as well as me anyway). Forget a “self-help” book and pop this mama jammer in on your next road trip this album has surpass Taylor Swift’s: “Fearless” and has become the theme album for feminist all over to unite under! Best-Bet Picks: “What Doesn’t Kill You”, “Honestly”, and “Mr. Know It All”.

Big Sean | Finally Famous (06/28/2011)

Executively produced by the hit maker himself: Kanye West, and not to mention No I.D. your boy Big Sean is FINALLY FAMOUS! The freshman collaborated with rap heavy weighs such as, Souja Boy, Wiz Khalifa, Kid Cudi, Eminem, Pusha T and more. “… I need Diddy percent! | Got a million on line 1, and another mil dialing in..” (“Get it (DT)”), the album provides a comical rap that I am sure even the driest sense of humor will enjoy Best-Bet Picks: “My Last”, “Marvin & Chardonnay”, “Dance (A$$)” and “Wait For Me”.

I'm Stronger Than I've Ever Been

In the world of so many.. | You only live once | Let’s do it big…
Rick Ross  (featuring Nicki Minaj) “You The Boss” (God Forgives, But I Don’t | TBA)

Two seizures, pushing his album release date back, and several canceled shows William Leonard Roberts, II (Rick Ross) still remains one of my favorite rappers to date.  Though his forthcoming album: God Forgives, But I Don’t is yet to have a new/set release date he tells his fans that “(it will) sound(s) like a term of retaliation, and with the picture that I'm painting, it felt perfect”.  Apart from getting social praise from his peers (Pusha T, Drake, Mary J Blige and others) he has been collaborating with multiple artist and featured on their tracks:

Lord Knows” – Drake featuring Rick Ross (Take Care | 2011)
Why” – Mary J Blige featuring Rick Ross (My Life II… The Journey Continues (Act 1) | 2011)
I Gotta Chick” – Tyrese featuring Rick Ross (Open Invitation | 2011)
Do Something Strange”- Ludacris featuring Rick Ross (1.21 Gigawatts: Back To The First Time | 2011)

Ima Boss (REMIX)”- Meek Mill featuring Swizz Beatz, T.I., DJ Khaled and Rick Ross (UNTITLED | 2011)
Ambition” / “Tats On My Arm” / “That Way” / “Best Night Ever”- Wale featuring Rick Ross (Ambition | 2011)
It’s A Tower Heist” – Nas featuring Rick Ross (Tower Heist Soundtrack | 2011)
Break My Heart” – Estelle featuring Rick Ross (All of Me | 2012)
Anything (To Find You)” – Monica featuring Rick Ross (New Life | 2011)
Fly Together” - Red Cafe featuring Ryan Leslie and Rick Ross ( UNTITLED | 2011)

Please look out next year for God Forgives, But I Don’t,  a potential collaborative album with Drake, and MMG Presents: Self Made, Vol. 2 in 2012!
