United State's War on Women

I wanted to share a topic that is creeping quickly into the forefront of the political race. It’s dubbed the “War on Women” it’s time that we open our eyes to what is really going on with such things as abortion, equal pay, and health care. Such thing as votes against the “Violence Against Women Act” violence against women happens daily. The act was voted against because it include Native Americans and the gay community would be covered so 31 male Republican’s decide to vote against the reauthorizing the act. We can not allow politicians to pull women back to a time were we our second class citizens. We need to keep abreast of changes that might take place that would affect us negatively. Please check out Senator Bernie Sanders article “United Against the War on Women” posted today 4/30/2012 on Huffington Post http://www.huffingtonpost.com/rep-bernie-sanders/united-against-the-war-on_b_1464730.html

Earth Day 2012

Take the time to celebrate the earth today. Pause and do something to help save the planet that we live on. Like my 5 year old told me “Turn the water off your wasting it” while I was brushing my teeth. The kid listens and tells me exactly what I nag her on. Bothe my girls have become very big on doing their part to save the planet that we live on. Every little bit helps to make earth a cleaner, healthier, living planet. Save water, recycle, use less bottle water, walk when possible plant some flowers or trees, pay bills online, maintain your vehicle and share information on cleaning up the earth with others. Here are some some websites to visit: http://www.earthday.org/http://www.50waystohelp.comhttp://www.cleanair.org/http://www.epa.gov/osw/conserve/rrr/recycle.htmhttp://www.ideastosavetheplanet.org/ and http://earth911.com/news/2010/04/19/how-kids-are-saving-the-planet/

Dark Skin Light Skin...

WOW I just read an amazing article by Ronald Martin who I listen to in the morning ride into work on the Tom Joyner show. His article is called “Dark skin is also a problem among African-Americans” http://www.cnn.com/2012/04/21/opinion/martin-skin-color/index.html?hpt=hp_bn7. No matter how far people of color have come, no matter the accomplishments that we may have achieved or years that have moved us from slavery or occupations of country’s skin color remains a problem. Some people of color not just African-Americans want the Western image of beauty. Would like, the skin color, hair, facial features and body time of what we will never obtain. The article raises many points and opens up the line of communication in regards to color and how people truly feel.

DICK CLARK

Known for "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" mainly-- but he also executively produced: "American Bandstand", "American Music Awards", "Perry Mason", "The Dick Clark Show (AKA The Dick Clark Saturday Night Beech-Nut Show), and "Pyramid". Gone but never forgotten.

North Carolina Same-Sex Amendment

On May 8th I will put my voting right to work by voting against the North Carolina Same-Sex Marriage, Amendment 1. North Carolina is attempting to define marriage in the state as between one man and one woman. I do not agree with this act my belief is that marriage should be between two people who love each other and feel that they can spend a lifetime together. Honestly I do not feel that government has the right to tell two people that they can not get married do to their sexuality.

One of the craziest arguments that I have read against same sex marriages such as Rep. Paul Stem who said “They’re going to bring with them their same-sex marriages. They’re going to want to get divorced” and have custody issues, decided, he said. “We’re not equipped to handle that.” Seriously as if heterosexuals do not get married, divorced and have custody issues!?

This should not be an Amendment all should have the right to choose if they would like to get married or not. This is not a place I feel government should be involved. It is a personal choice. I plan on making my voice heard when I voce on Tuesday, May 8th 2012 hopefully many others follow and do the same. Please read more by clicking the following link:http://ballotpedia.org/wiki/index.php/North_Carolina_Same-Sex_Marriage,_Amendment_1_(May_2012).

World According to "Gayle"

I am not a really big reader of the O The Oprah Magazine my sister on the other hand is a Oprah groupie. I usually get her all the issues that she reads from cover to cover. While I was scanning the April 2012 issue before sending it to her I happen to come across an amazing quote on Gayle’s page where she shares things that she loves for the month. The quote originated from a shop window in Beirut, Lebanon that a friend of hers emailed her.
“Your presence is a unique gift to the world.”
WOW how amazing are those nine words! It just enlivened my sprit! At times I doubt my worth, talents and my worthiness in life. This quote made me realize that just my presence in this world is a gift and unique I have no right to not feel worth! Thanks to this little shop in Beirut, Lebanon that I most like will never see but has help to change me! My uniqueness is an amazing gift and I plan on sharing it with the world!

Obama "Campaign shed light on Romneycare"

Mitt Romney has no leg to stand on when it comes to attack President Obama when it comes to his Universal Health Campaign to get all American’s health insurance. Let the Campaigning begin for 2012 Election.

Diversity

Diversity means variety, unlikeness a point of difference. Some here along the way it seems that understanding that all people, places and life are different. It what brings color, variety and makes life and people interesting. The issue of bullying, racial profiling, religious intolerance and sexual intolerance perhaps would be easier to deal with if people opened themselves up to learning about others differences. Schools, religious institution, family’s and the work place need to make time to understand what makes individuals unique and how this makes the world a better place. At best it can elevate the misconceptions of specific races, religion and or sexuality. At best it can save a life that is taken because of fear of differences.
