Over Weight Lover Dead

I could not believe it when I receive the text that one of my childhood crushes had died! I fell in love with Hip Hop before Heavy D (Dwight Arrington Myers) but he made me love it even more along with just loving him. His music was fun, it made you want to dance and he just always was very positive when it came to his lyrics and to women. How could I not love him plus I just always wanted to hug him. It saddens me very much to realize that he died so young and I will never get to see him perform live. Because I figured after his amazing performance and the BET Hip Hop awards that a tour was on the way. Sadly even if it was in the works it will not take place.

Heavy D was a bright spot in Hip Hop in the late 80’s and early 90’s with his group the “Boyz” G Whiz, Trouble T Roy and Eddie. They were signed to Uptown Records. They had 10 Billboard Hits:

Don’t You Know1988 No 12
We Got Our Won Thang1989 No10
Somebody For Me” 1989 No 8
Gyrlz, They Love Me1990 No 2
Is it Good To You1991 No13
Now That We Found Love1991 No5
Who’s the Man?1993 No 52
Nuttin’ But Love1994 No 18
Black Coffee1994 No 15
 “Got Me Waiting1994 No 3

He also took his acting career seriously when he took his talents into that area. Acting in such movies as The Cider House Rules (1999), Life (1999),  Big Trouble (2002), The Tracy Morgan Show (2003), Step Up (2006) and in theaters now "Tower Heist". He also can be seen on “Law & Order SVU” and “Tyler Perry’s House of Pyne”. Looking at his short life he accomplished a lot and set a path for Hip Hop artist to follow a great legacy.
