must I be defined by my skin tone?

does color matter

can you see beyond color?

I worked hard

to be defined by

my words

that leak

slowly

from my pencil

coloring the world

in words

creating images

that our bright

sparkle and shimmer

removing me from

just my skin tone

helping you to

look beyond

my color that

resembles dusk

after the sunsets

and slowly stars

dance across the sky
