Valentine’s Day is tomorrow February 14, 2012 and the pressure most likely has been on all month for Love Declarations. Ooh so sweet but should love not be shown all year long to those we proclaim to love children, family, friends and lovers the same. The pressure is more for lovers whose relationships that are stormy. For your sake I hope that you can pull out a beautiful romantic gesture! Good Luck
It seems that February has always celebrated romance and love that contains Roman and Christian traditions. The Roman’s celebrated Lupercalia a festival that celebrated fertility and dedicated to Faunus the Roman god of agriculture. Catholics attempt to Christianize the pagan celebration by celebrating Valentines Day in February to commemorate the anniversary of Valentines death.
Part of the origins of this day lay at the feet of the Catholic Patron Saints Valentine. My favorite is the one in regards to Valentine who was killed due to his attempt to help Christians escape the harsh Roman prisons. His imprisonment led to him being beaten and tortured but also led to him falling in love with a young girl who visited him. He sent her a letter that he signed “From your Valentine” before his death.
Share a little love on Valentines Day to those who lay claims to your heart. My heart belongs to the two very important people in my life before all my girls. I will always love my family, friends and lover’s who have loved me and helped to mold me.
