No Your Status

Wrap It Up

We need to drill into the minds of young children to use a condom at all times and test for status when it comes to STDs. Young children grown into young adults who will at a point and time will have sex. Be it heterosexual, gay, lesbian or both the point is they need to learn to protect themselves against STDs. Wednesday, August 3rd, 2011 the online scientific journal PLos One published data that shows the largest increase of HIV infection was among bisexual men and men who have sex with men. They are saying that it is an “alarming increase”. That statement alone should push for better education on sex and testing to help lift the stigma of being a young African American male who has sex with other males.

"We cannot allow the health of a new generation of gay men to be lost to a preventable disease. It's time to renew the focus on HIV among gay men and confront the homophobia and stigma that all too often accompany this disease."1(Mermin, J) The key to helping reduce the amount of new cases with in the community is to prevent young people from contracting the disease. I feel that the way to prevent is to better educate young people. Know matter how we feel in regards to sex or sexuality. Yes I believe in abstinence until a young person is mental ready and understand the consequences of having sex. Young people have sex no matter if you a parent attempts to act as if it doesn’t exist. It’s better to educate them on not only pregnancy but on STDs and how to prevent both with the use of condoms.

It’s a scare fact when you see that in 2006-2009 48% increase on HIV in males ages 13-29 who are having sex with other males. Prevention by letting them now that using condoms at all times will help protect them from contract HIV. If these young people are denying that they are have sex with other males, not using protection then I doubt that they are testing themselves to check there STD status. Which just keeps them in a bad cycle which may end up with them dead very early. I will continue to educate my daughters on there body’s, sex, STD’s, prevention and yes that there are men and women who sleep with both sex’s. Education and knowing your status in my opinion is key to help prevent STD’s and passing them on to sexual partners.

Twitter/Facebook/News|Buzz Hot Topic|Discussion

Unless you've been living under a rock the past few weeks there is no reason for you to not know Jennifer Lopez is 42, and single again. I find it entertaining to say the least. I recently watched "Lopez's story" on VH1: Behind The Music 07/08/11.

She has had several failed marriages/Engagements and numerous highly publicized relationships: Chris Paciello, Tommy Mattolla, Wesley Snipes, Chris Judd, Ojani Noa, Marc Anthony, Joaquin Cortez, Ben Affleck, & P. Diddy.

The Actor, Dancer, American Idol judge, Singer is current in the studio making finishing touches on her highly anticipated album. This influential woman is making her stamp and leaving her permanent mark that she is here to stay! Single and loving it and from recent articles interviews has not given up on true love. Guess we'll have to see who shall be her next prince charming?

As we believe here on Destruction of Glitter all that sparkles is not gold. She recently stated in an interview with Mirror.co.uk her and ex-husband Marc Anthony didn't have the picture perfect marriage as it may have seemed.

Jennifer is a heavy weight in the industry and as a Hispanic female influence individual of our time. Jennifer

is letting the world know she is Jenny from the block and not to be mis construed. Yes, she is the best and sorry for the mix up!

I Can Do Better

I have been viben to Drake's "Marvin's Room" for the past couple of months along with the host of remix's that cropped up. I am guessing it was the beat and what seems like the drunken rant of lover perhaps heartbroken. I am older so I have been there done that mind set that enjoy this song, the beat is melodic, some of the lyrics are laughable, sad but understandable of the emotions of being left behind by a lover. When you are young everything just seems so intense, so beautiful just like the perfect fit as if it will last forever.

Damn it hurts at times when you put in time, emotion, and love into a relationship to watch it just crumble and fall apart. Emotions run high enough to make you do things that you normal would not do offering up emotions, sexual pleasures, pleading for another chance just to keep a person that does not want to be a part of your life. At times we forget a relationship is two people who come together because of an attraction be it physical, emotional, spiritual or common interest. Importantly it is a mutual connection that has brought two people together.

This attraction might grow as you grow as a couple or it may fizzle out due to temporary infatuation. Break ups happen for different reasons I always think that it was my fault like the world is all about me! What is it about me that was not worth loving that I would get left behind with my broken heart? It has nothing to do with you at times it maybe about what the other person in the relationship needs at that time. We forgot that it is a relationship its two people. The other person has their own needs, emotions, dreams, and goals to accomplish in life. At that time I just did not fit into there life and their life goals. Maybe they could not see themselves in my life's goals and dreams. It is hard to understand that a person can do better then us or perhaps we are just not the right puzzle piece to that other person.

No matter what part of your self you offer during a drunken or even a sober call begging for another chance will not change the other persons mind. If they do it would only be a temporary fix for something that might not be fixable. In the end do we really want someone who does not want to be with us the way that we would like them to? They have just freed us for true soulful love. Love doesn’t get any easier as we get older it just seems to evolve. For the record my two favorite cover remix's of "Marvin's Room" is by two young Artists who are just growing up quickly JoJo and Sammie you can also take a listen to Teyana Taylor along with Chris Brown.

"Children want their parents to be heroes. In polygamy, parents weren't our heroes. They were our bogeymen." Flora Jessop is the Author of "Church of Lies" and a former Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint sect member. She also is working to establish a foundation for young girls who also escape polygamist sects.

Warren Jeff’s has dismissed lawyers and aids. He is now asking Judge Barbara Walther for additional time to prepare his own defense. Last Thursday the Polygamist leader's trial started. He is being charged with two counts of sexual assault for raping two under-aged girls and fathering a child with one of them if convicted he may receive up to 119 years in prison.

In his testimony on Friday, Jeffs said there was no crime, explaining that he and both girls had a “spiritual” marriage bond. He went on to say that the FLDS must “follow the law set out for it by God.”

“If we do not live these laws we are damned here and hereafter. We believe in a marriage system of eternity called celestial marriage, wherein celestial means heavenly authorized, not to be intervened by government intervention,” Jeffs said.

Jeffs ended his speech by saying, “Amen.”1 (Christianpost.com)

At this point I am just baffled that the above still goes on as a parent and a woman are we not suppose to protect are children. Not offer them up to be used sexual by a man. Light has been shed on the sex trade to me the line is not that much different in the case above the use of young girls to satisfy the sexual urges of grown men.

The Value of Creativity

I agree with Matt Damon when he says "As I look at my life today, the things that I value about myself, my imagination, my love of acting, my passion for writing, my love of learning, my curiosity, came from the way that I was parented and taught," Damon told the teachers. "And none of these qualities that I just mentioned, none of these qualities that I prize so deeply, none of these qualities that have brought me so much joy, that have made me so successful professionally, none of these qualities that make me who I am can be tested," he said. 1 (CNN.com)

It seems that children are not being taught but drilled to be able to pass a standardized test. For the past four years I know for a fact that yes teachers teach a curriculum but a lot of time is taken to make sure that know what is tested on the EOG’s (End-of-Grade the standardized test in my city). Which is designed to measure student performance on the goals, objectives, and grade-level competencies specified for the state. I think it takes away from the beauty of learning because it turns the focus of passing this test.

Stressful for young children to know that not passing this test can lead to them being held back. No matter how well that they may have done the whole year. This is a lot of pressure on young children as young as eight years old. It is also added stress on the parents and teachers who are working hard to just get the children to love the joy of reading, understanding math concepts and building a love of discovering science. The educational systems needs to be fine tuned to help are children learn for the success of this country in the future a touch of creativity is needed. We all can learn a little bit from Matt Damon’s past by helping to support are children in what brings them small joys being it sports, writing, arts, science along with sitting down and helping during homework time. Perhaps we should be teaching children to be future, inventors, scientist, and architect, to help this country continue to grow.
