Claiming myself worth

Reaching for my happiness

Wanting nothing but the best

Call me selfish

I no longer want to look at me

Through the cracks

Of failure

I choose me

Over a fade image

That once was a perfect

Relationship

Perhaps some where in my heart

I lied perfectly not

My time so precious

Within that limited time

I choose me

Having me in my happiness

Finding my selfish side

Happiness is my priority

Walking away a decision

So hard it slowly

Eases my heart

Taking only the good

I am selfish or did you forget

Can love be found?

Amongst the ruins of

My heart that lies

A blazed with anger

And hurt

Add a dash of hate

As I cry for the

Death of my so called

Love standing at an

Open grave letting my

Wilted rose slip through

My fingers

Silently landing

On top of the casket

Called love

Can a new love be found?

Don Cornelius Dead at 75

Soul Train to me growing up is what 106 & Park is to my daughter. My way of getting music, spot my favorite artist and attempt to learn new dance steps. As I attempted to runway walk in my mother’s living room Saturday mornings. It said to me to think that Don Cornelius at the age of 78 may have taken his own life. He brought a lot of music in to many households for 35 years…Rest In Peace to the man that help me find Soul!

Havoc

The twinkle in your eyes

Can to easily sway me

From for getting

The havoc that you have

Caused my soul

Is it worth it?

Me laying my heart in your

This is the last time

Watching our hearts

14 Days of Valentine's Day

February is the shortest month of the year, Black History Month and the celebration of love called Valentine’s Day. To flex my creative juices this month I have decide to challenge myself by doing the 14 days of Valentine’s Day by posting a new poem up every day till the 14^th of February.
